SURIGAO DEL SUR—Officials here declared that Cantilan is a “no mining” town of this province, as an estimated 1,000 people staged a 4-kilometer march on Monday to condemn the entry of two mining firms in the locality.

Speaking at a rally in the town plaza, Cantilan Mayor Tomasa Guardo told protesters that “as long as I am the mayor, no mining will ever be approved in this municipality.” MORE HERE>>>
