Cantilan’s Top FIVE Tourist Destinations

1. Inijakan - 21 votes (Submitted by Tan Borja Ortega). Inijakan is a former sitio of Brgy.General Island, an island Barangay of Cantilan. This Island is the biggest among other islets in this town. Its shoreline is covered with very fine white sand. A big cave can also be found where stalactites and stalagmites are so abundant. Danao Enchanted lake can also be found here. Two private-owned areas in this island, Bag-ong Banwa (Double B) and Bill’s Sanctuary has cottages to accommodate visitors. Known as Cantilan’s last frontier, you can be reach General island by a 30-minute boat ride from Cantilan Wharf.

2. Malinawa Cool Spring (Silop) - 13 votes (Submitted by Jason Sigfred Seril). Malinawa Cool Spring is located in Brgy.Parang, Cantilan. A very cool spring surrounded by beautifully arranged big flat white rocks around the pool equipped with shower rooms, cottages and a mini convention center. The spring is constantly flowing 90 liters of fresh water per second. It is a 5 minute ride from the national highway.

3. Ayoke Island - 10 votes (Submitted by Yasser Eli Guarte Almeda). Ayoke is part of Barangay Isla Heneral (General Island). Ayoke is famous for its kolo, a fruit similar to langka but different in taste. It is where the lighthouse of the town is located to guide fishermen and passenger ships passing the area. It has a long stretch of white sand beach and perfect surfing site located on the other side of the island facing the pacific ocean that attracts both local and foreign surfers. Among the famous survival stories during World War II in the Philippines also put Ayoke on the map when a group of US Navymen tried to escape to Australia but thier boat got sunk by a typhoon near the island. Illif Richardson swam and reached Ayoke where he was taken care of by a family there. The local government continues to fight against illegal fishing and in the protection of a marine sanctuary by declaring some parts in this beautiful island as Marine Protected Area.

4. Casa Rica Island - 9 votes (Submitted by Jhen Guerta). Casa Rica is a beautiful pristine island which is only a 10-minute ride by pump boat from Consuelo Port. This island has a white beach with crystal clear waters. It has a cave that provides shelter to cave-dwelling bats.

5. Blue Lagoon - 6 votes (Submitted by Wenefrido Crabajales). Blue Lagoon is situated in General Island, Cantilan. The lagoon has a deep blue crystal clear water safely enclosed by the island. The area is now called Bill’s Sanctuary. The sanctuary has cottages to accommodate visitors. According to BGen.Charles Hotchkiss (ret.), this 12-hectare lagoon is surrounded by lush mountains. You can still hear the ko-ka of the rare kayaw and view the endangered mameng or humphead wrasse, the most expensive fish in the country when it was still in the market. The sanctuary also hosts other exotic fish species like the tiaongan which you rarely see in the market today.
